Just got this link from Director Lucy Campbell about The Friend Catcher – the shortlisted Virgin Media Shorts 2011 entry we helped shoot and edit.

“It was fantastic to hear that The Friend Catcher had been shortlisted for Virgin Media Shorts. I heard we were being considered a little while ago, and then it was a long wait to hear if we’d made it. Now we’re here, life is wonderful!

Virgin Media Shorts 2011

We are pleased to announce that Lucy Cambell’s short film The Friend Catcher has made the final 12 in the Virgin Media Shorts 2011. It’s a short film co-witten by none other than our own Claire Molloy. Editing and assistant camera by the Stake team and DOP was the infinitely talented Tom Doran.

It’s a story of what children carry in there lunch boxes – shot in 2 days with an amazingly quick turnaround edit of less that 24 hours to just squeeze us in as one of the final entrants.

It’s shiny, it’s new and its finally here!

Thats right we can now announce our website is completed and will be going on exhibition everywhere in the near future.

Some new features you may recognise include The Team section. This pays tribute to the friends we work the most closely with and we are proud to have such great talents for you to delve into and find out more on. So go and take a look! Go on… 

Another new page is especially for our show reel – which is currently being pieced together from our latest clips so keep an eye out for that. At the moment you can see our 2009 – 2010 reel, still worth a watch so go have a look at that when you get chance!

Plenty more things to dive into but I will let you discover them for yourselves, it’s much more exciting that way. Don’t forget our pretty little logo’s on the bottom of the page too – they are some of the major companies we have worked with so we love to show those off as you can imagine.

Coronation Street Pride

Hi there, recently the yearly event for Gay Pride took place in Manchester and we we’re there to film on behalf of Black Dog Ballroom and ITV.

Black Dog Ballroom sponsored the Coronation Street float this year and we had a quick chat to some of the cast. Have a look at our video here!

Feast your eyes on these: New Shorts

Today we have some special new links for you to click. We are temporally releasing our two latest short films, The Bearer and Things Beyond the Sun. These short films will be entering festivals everywhere this year so keep a look out for them, and catch them now while you can! They wont be available for long as festivals sometimes want exclusivity to them.

The Bearer

The Bearer is a picture of choices, an interpretation of the fine line faith can draw between truth and legend.

The film explores the parallels of the two principle characters, a young boy and a local Priest as they expose the weakness of their creed.

Banishing authority, the film illustrates life at a critical point, where the next steps forward must be taken without counsel.

Things Beyond the Sun

A fantastical tale of a young girl’s journey, interrupting the monotony of a lonesome old man’s life, for better or for worse.

Sometimes all you need is a change of perspective.

Channel 4 Street Summer + new employee

Hello, good news! We are pleased to announce a new permanent member of the Stake Team. Here she is;

Claire Molloy is a DOP, Director, creator of film, she eats cereal on the bus and is an all round crazy minded person. Ideally suited to the Stake Team it seems!

She has a keen eye for great film ideas and her favourite food is mushrooms. She also tends to spill tea, usually aiming for expensive electronics. But never the less, here is her show reel.

Today we have been busy editing for Channel 4′s Street Summer in association with Don’t Panic. We filmed Chris AKA Theodore on the 1′st where he completed his adapted award winning design on a popular Manchester based wall. Right now we are in the final stages of the edit and the final feature should air in the coming weeks as part of Channel 4′s Street Summer programme. So keep a look out for that!

The Bearer – A New Short

The final cut of “The Bearer” has gone golden, and to go with it, there are some nice new posters!

A lot of things have been learned during the production of this film, and I can’t wait to start work on the next short we have in the pipeline (well make that two).

New Salford Quays Office

Lots of new things coming to Stake Productions very soon; Two new shorts to feast your eyes on. We will be entering festivals large and small around the world! A new office location now means we are based alongside the BBC North in Salford Quays. Very exciting. And we are currently working on a marketing trailer for a theatre production called Steerage. All this and a new brand launch coming very soon. Be prepared!
